Reincarnationfish
Like Buddha, but without the wisdom

Nick Brown, Reincarnationfish, has been writing music with a computer for as long as it’s been possible without remortgaging your house. But when he gave up computers and real life and went travelling for a year with no more technology than an old school walkman and a few tapes of impenetrable electronica, he started writing music in his head.

In contrast to years of experimentation and general messing around with weird noises, he deliberately set out to combine the abstruse songwriting of Pavement, The Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev, with programmed beats and low-fi melodic electro-pop, reminiscent of armchair techno and IDM before it became un-listenable.

He returned home with a head-full of sounds and words and a cheap guitar picked up on the way. A little Reincarnationfish magic has turned these imaginary songs into music the rest of the world can enjoy. None of them quite ended up sounding how they were supposed to, but they did all come together to express the intended concept, a playful, optimistic view of life lived in the present, in the twenty-first century, with one eye on the future.

Reincarnationfish facts:

  • Likes beer and fresh fruit.
  • Dislikes the forces of darkness.
  • A bad trombonist.
  • From the Thames Valley. Currently resident in Leeds.

Sounds like The Postal Service or Underworld if they fell in love.

"‘You and me vs. The Massed Forces of Darkness’ - a great typically British alternative track that shows superb lyrical talent, along with a beat to get inside your head and stay there... ...From what we’ve heard of this band, we like their material very much."
